The most famous châteaux in the Loire

Chambord

Le château de Chambord

Our Siblu campsite in the Loire is located near a very famous castle (if not the most famous): the castle of Chambord. If you want to visit it, plan the day and comfortable walking shoes, because it is one of the largest castles and has 426 rooms! What not to miss? Its spiral staircase and superb terraces.

Blois

The royal château of Blois

This stunning castle is characterized by its 4 facades, each dating from a different era. During your visit, you will be able to discover the Salle des Etats Généraux (the oldest seigniorial hall in France) and the three wings: the Louis XII wing, the François 1st wing and the Gaston d'Orléans wing.

Cheverny

Cheverny château

Our campsite is near another famous Loire castle: the Château de Cheverny. This beautiful property inspired the sketches of the Château de Moulinsart in Tintin. Take a walk in the open air in its 20-hectare park and discover the apartments of the castle.

Chenonceau

Chenonceau château

Perhaps one of the most visibly recognisable castles in the Loire is the Château de Chenonceau.  You cannot stay at Domaine de Dugny without visiting this Renaissance-style monument, and you can visit inside and outside in the grounds.

More châteaux in the area

Chateau de Valançay

Valençay château

The charming castle of Valençay is well known for its sumptuous works of art, sculptures, paintings and furniture. Outside, you can walk in the green 53-hectare park, stroll through the gardens and recharge your batteries in the forest.

Chaumont sur Loire

Chaumont-sur-Loire château

Another well-known Loire castle is the castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire. Located between Blois and Amboise, this gorgeous building offers magnificent gardens, period crockery, stables, and beautifully decorated rooms.

Azay le Rideau

Azay-le-Rideau château

The Azay-le-Rideau is one of the most beautiful castles of the Loire and you absolutely must visit it during your holidays in the Centre-Val de Loire! Smaller than others, it is very elegant, with a lovely grounds and park to explore.

Chinon

Chinon Fortress

Your family camping holiday in the Loire Valley is also an opportunity to discover the royal fortress of Chinon. Perched on a rocky outcrop, it sits proudly above the vines and the town. It is also the ideal outing to take magnificent photos of the panorama. A visit to the Château de Chinon will immerse you in the Middle Ages and you will be able to discover crossbows, objects found during archaeological excavations, the bedroom of Charles VII and many other treasures. Did you know ? It was at the Château de Chinon that Joan of Arc met King Charles VII!
